During our ongoing battle to save the planet and ween ourselves of that drug called oil, I have allowed wind energy to have it’s turn here on our blog. Now it’s solar’s turn to shine. When choosing a renewable energy source for your home, take a hard look at solar which offers lower cost and greater efficiency than some other sources. It pays to use solar energy as well. Just was I previously stated that excess wind energy may be sold to one’s power company for a profit, the same holds true when utilizing solar energy. There are many advantages to solar energy. Here are just a few:
1. Can increase your home’s value
2. Requires little to no maintenance
3. Produces no emissions
4. Panels are long lasting and come with 20-25 year warranties
Where there are advantages, there are also disadvantages. Check them out and weigh your options.
1. Physical location: Does your home’s geographic location see enough sunlight?
2. Roof Structure
3. Initial setup costs

Howdy,
I’d like to beg to differ with you slightly on disadvantage # 3. Although I know this is a semantics issue, but there is an errant misconception out there that solar energy conversion is for instantaneous gratification and not an investment with better rates of return than a traditional home investment, say adding a bathroom or remodeling the kitchen.
I outline it here, Solar Energy is an Investment, contrary to the popular belief it is a luxury.
Also, another small note, selling PV electricity back to the grid greatly increases the time to break even on a system, given most if not all utilities buy it back at wholesale prices that are lower than you buy it from them. For this reason it is best to achieve net zero consumption from the grid over the period of a year.
Otherwise, continue to get the word out there!
Solid page:) hope to come back=D
