Our dependence on foreign oil may have come to a hault, as long as what I’m about to tell you works as they say it will.  Blacklight Power of Cranbury, New Jersey created a way to convert plain old water into cheap energy.  They say it’s the next big thing, and that it will work, but many scientists are in disbelief and say that the company’s technology violates the basic laws of physics.  The founder of blacklight, Dr Randell Mills claims that he has developed a working fuel cell that alters hydrogen atoms in water and release heat.  This heat then turns into steam that can run electric turbines.    Model can generate 50 kilowatts of electricity which could power up to 7 houses.  This new technology costs less than $0.02 per kilowat-hour which beats the national average by $0.07.  So, does Dr Mills, his team of 11 scientists and their $60 million in funding have something here?  All we can do is wait and see.  But I tell you one thing, if it holds true, our world will be much better off.  Keep the faith.  Keep reusing, renewing and recycling.  And hopefully, when Blacklight Power takes this mainstream, Open the Flood Gates and support this brilliant idea.  We have nothing to loose and everything to gain.  Save the planet, and save your life.

Can you think of any ways to utilize this technology for your next home improvement?  How do you “Go Green” when making home improvements or just in your everyday life?  Share with us.

During our ongoing battle to save the planet and ween ourselves of that drug called oil,  I have allowed wind energy to have it’s turn here on our blog.  Now it’s solar’s turn to shine.   When choosing a renewable energy source for your home, take a hard look at solar which offers lower cost and greater efficiency than some other sources.  It pays to use solar energy as well.  Just was I previously stated that excess wind energy may be sold to one’s power company for a profit, the same holds true when utilizing solar energy.  There are many advantages to solar energy.  Here are just a few:

1.  Can increase your home’s value

2.  Requires little to no maintenance

3.  Produces no emissions

4.  Panels are long lasting and come with 20-25 year warranties

Where there are advantages, there are also disadvantages.  Check them out and weigh your options.

1.  Physical location:  Does your home’s geographic location see enough sunlight?

2.  Roof Structure

3.  Initial setup costs

The ARMs and plain old poor financial choices that have faulted many Americans in our country’s current “gotta have it now” state, have not just hurt the average working American, but also multi-millionaire celebrities as well.  Jose Canseco, Ed McMahon, Evander Holyfield, Michael Jackson & Courtney Love have all foreclosed on homes with mortgage balances up to $24.5 million.  Take a look at the homes and read the stories in their entirety @ http://money.cnn.com/galleries/2008/real_estate/0806/gallery.celebrity_foreclosures/index.html.

The Light at the end of the tunnel.  Shocking the Home Improvement Industry with Web 2.0

ss_blog_claim=963c4eee0512f2f38e706de64e7dc492Bidrealm.NET (http://www.bidrealm.net) is the social spark to the home improvement industry.  Think about it, virtually every aspect of business has been utilized on-line except the sole most vulnerable business on the planet, that being the home improvement industry.  Why do I say vulnerable?  I say this because in my experience in business banking and working closely with many contractors, builders, landscapers, and other home improvement professionals, & Co-Founder Travis White’s experience flipping homes, we have witnessed how inconsistent a home improvement professional’s business can truly be.  Working one job all the while not knowing when the next one will come or how much it will pay.  Will you even have enough to pay your own workers and in a timely fashion?  These are questions that run through home improvement professional’s minds on a daily basis.  Bidrealm.NET (http://www.bidrealm.net) is here to alleviate that anxiety by injecting the use of the Internet and Web 2.0 into the industry to make it more efficient & consistent.  Register for FREE @ http://www.bidrealm.net, & search for & bid on available home improvement projects in your area through our innovative & interactive reverse auction style site.  Search, Bid, Get Awarded Projects & always keep a steady pipeline of contracted jobs.  Now that’s the way to stay consistent and build your business.

Gone With The Wind, & Getting Paid For It June 17, 2008

When discussing “Going Green”, most of us are familiar with alternative energy sources such as solar and electric.  But what about wind?  The truth is that individuals can easily understand solar and electricity, and how they can actually use the two in their daily lives to conserve energy and be less dependent on oil because these two sources of renewable energy are always in the mainstream.  But wind energy is another animal all together for most.  Most people, when they think of wind energy, they picture hundreds of gigantic windmills together alone in the desert of Nevada, Arizona or California that are ran by major corporations and government to supply energy to entire cities.  I am here to tell you that you too can support and use wind energy on a much small scale, and that is more beneficial to you and your pocket.  Skystream has developed the Skystream 3.7 wind generator that connects directly to your home and generates power whenever the wind is blowing.

The Skystream stands between 34 & 70 feet tall & is 170 pounds.  It comes with a 5 year warranty and is certified fo usage in the U.S. & Canada.

THE BEST PART:

This is especially helpful in our current times of a down economy when all of us are trying to save as much as we can and cut back where needed.  During times of high winds, the Skysteam can produce excess energy that you home does not need.  In this case, depending on your utility, your meter can spin backward and give you a energy credit toward your next bill.  Check your local utility companies, because in some areas, when you generate extra power, you can then sell it back to your local power company and earn some extra income.  You can even earn possible rebates & tax incentives for using wind energy.

Let’s all BE ALTERNATIVE and save energy, the planet and our pockets.  Because every, watt & every dollar counts.

Fans of Trademark Properties & Real Estate Pros June 12, 2008

Tell me fans, what has happened to Real Estate Guru, Richard Davis & his Trademark Properties Team?  For those of you whom don’t know, Richard Davis is the founder of the successful full-service real estate firm dubbed Trademark Properties based out of Charleston, SC.  Mr Davis developed the popular television series on TLC called Flip That House, and later created a new show called The Real Estate Pros.  Those of us whom are fans know that Richard & his talented team including Ginger, are knowledgeable and in my opinion, brought house flipping to the mainstream with their first TV show.  Flip that house has since changed a great deal.  We have seen a team from Boston made up of an ex-male model and NFL football player, a total of three different Atlanta, Ga based teams, and probably the next most successful team under Richard Davis in Armando Montelongo, which has also broken up since it first aired.  But that is another story.

We have been watching re-runs for far too long.  What has happend to the new episodes?  If anyone has any info on where us FLIP FANS can get our daily fix of Richard Davis & the Real Estate Pros, including any airing times or TV channels, please let us all know.

Check out The Real Estate Pros @ http://tlc.discovery.com/guides/property/real-estate-pros/real-estate-pros.html
