Purchase wind power cards @ Whole Foods Markets, & Wells Fargo.  Renewable power cards may be the wave of the future in combating global warming and finding alternative energy sources.  The card, loaded with renewable energy credits provided via generated wind power, can help ween us off of our oil dependantcy as well as save each and every one of us money in our pockets.  Check it out, use it, and let us know how it impacts your life and your wallet, and hopefully they will positively impact our world and present need for oil during this extremely “bearish” economic time.

Our dependence on foreign oil may have come to a hault, as long as what I’m about to tell you works as they say it will.  Blacklight Power of Cranbury, New Jersey created a way to convert plain old water into cheap energy.  They say it’s the next big thing, and that it will work, but many scientists are in disbelief and say that the company’s technology violates the basic laws of physics.  The founder of blacklight, Dr Randell Mills claims that he has developed a working fuel cell that alters hydrogen atoms in water and release heat.  This heat then turns into steam that can run electric turbines.    Model can generate 50 kilowatts of electricity which could power up to 7 houses.  This new technology costs less than $0.02 per kilowat-hour which beats the national average by $0.07.  So, does Dr Mills, his team of 11 scientists and their $60 million in funding have something here?  All we can do is wait and see.  But I tell you one thing, if it holds true, our world will be much better off.  Keep the faith.  Keep reusing, renewing and recycling.  And hopefully, when Blacklight Power takes this mainstream, Open the Flood Gates and support this brilliant idea.  We have nothing to loose and everything to gain.  Save the planet, and save your life.

Can you think of any ways to utilize this technology for your next home improvement?  How do you “Go Green” when making home improvements or just in your everyday life?  Share with us.

During our ongoing battle to save the planet and ween ourselves of that drug called oil,  I have allowed wind energy to have it’s turn here on our blog.  Now it’s solar’s turn to shine.   When choosing a renewable energy source for your home, take a hard look at solar which offers lower cost and greater efficiency than some other sources.  It pays to use solar energy as well.  Just was I previously stated that excess wind energy may be sold to one’s power company for a profit, the same holds true when utilizing solar energy.  There are many advantages to solar energy.  Here are just a few:

1.  Can increase your home’s value

2.  Requires little to no maintenance

3.  Produces no emissions

4.  Panels are long lasting and come with 20-25 year warranties

Where there are advantages, there are also disadvantages.  Check them out and weigh your options.

1.  Physical location:  Does your home’s geographic location see enough sunlight?

2.  Roof Structure

3.  Initial setup costs

When discussing “Going Green”, most of us are familiar with alternative energy sources such as solar and electric.  But what about wind?  The truth is that individuals can easily understand solar and electricity, and how they can actually use the two in their daily lives to conserve energy and be less dependent on oil because these two sources of renewable energy are always in the mainstream.  But wind energy is another animal all together for most.  Most people, when they think of wind energy, they picture hundreds of gigantic windmills together alone in the desert of Nevada, Arizona or California that are ran by major corporations and government to supply energy to entire cities.  I am here to tell you that you too can support and use wind energy on a much small scale, and that is more beneficial to you and your pocket.  Skystream has developed the Skystream 3.7 wind generator that connects directly to your home and generates power whenever the wind is blowing.

The Skystream stands between 34 & 70 feet tall & is 170 pounds.  It comes with a 5 year warranty and is certified fo usage in the U.S. & Canada.

THE BEST PART:

This is especially helpful in our current times of a down economy when all of us are trying to save as much as we can and cut back where needed.  During times of high winds, the Skysteam can produce excess energy that you home does not need.  In this case, depending on your utility, your meter can spin backward and give you a energy credit toward your next bill.  Check your local utility companies, because in some areas, when you generate extra power, you can then sell it back to your local power company and earn some extra income.  You can even earn possible rebates & tax incentives for using wind energy.

Let’s all BE ALTERNATIVE and save energy, the planet and our pockets.  Because every, watt & every dollar counts.

Check out http://www.dsireusa.org.  The Database of State Incentives for Renewables & Efficiency’s website is a great source for gathering info on how you can benefit financially from utilizing alternative energy in your home such as solar and wind.  We all want to help the environment and stop global warming, but is always good to be able to also get that extra push.  And this push is coming in the form of tax savings and incentives.  DSIRE breaks available incentives down by state, so checkout their site and learn what is offered in your area and how you can benefit.

If you have decided to take the plunge and go alternative with your energy sources, checkout Wholesale Solar @ http://wholesalesolar.com/solar-panels.html.  Here you can get great discounts on solar panels, wind generators and other equipment @ wholesale prices.

It’s 2008 people, and it’s easier than ever to utilize alternative power such as solar, wind & thermal in our homes and on a personal scale.  Let’s take the the bull by the horns and move ourselves away from our ever so strong dependence on foreign oil.  Help our planet, Help ourselves, & Help our future.
